Entry Requirements
- Hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in any field;
- Have and English Proficiency Examination score as the requirement of Faculty of Graduate Studies;
- Other requirements shall follow those that specified by the Faculty of Graduate Studies;
- Qualifications different from 2) – 3) may be considered by the Program Administrative Committee and the Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies

Documents Required
Applicants must include all of the following documents in their application. Application with incomplete documents will not be accepted for consideration. All application documents must be sent via email to: ihrpmhrd@mahidol.edu.
- Application Form – (Download the application form) Applicants must complete the application form clearly and completely. Incomplete and unsigned forms (e-signature is accepted).
- Personal statement – (Maximum 1000 words) Your statement should include a brief personal background, why are you applying for the program, and why you believe you are suited for this program, including what your future plans after graduating. Your personal statement should be written in a clear, concise, and engaging manner.
- Research concept note – (Maximum 1000 words, excluding references, if any) The concept note should ideally indicate your proposed thesis research topic and research questions, why you think this topic is important, proposed research methodology (including data sources), a brief literature review, and a conceptual framework.
- Academic records – Scanned, English language copies of your official bachelor’s transcript (including classes or master’s program, if any), and the diploma or certificate of graduation/completion. Transcripts, diplomas or certificates in other languages must be translated into English, and must bear the stamp of your university or an official translator. Those who are still in the process of completing their degree program, may send an official interim grade report/true copy of records, and a certificate of enrollment confirming your current student status. This certificate should include your expected date of completion/graduation.
- Curriculum Vitae or Resume, which should be no more than two pages long. A separate list of publications may be included if available but should not be more than one page long.
- Copy of Passport – The passport must remain valid for until 12 months after course registration (July).
- Proof of English proficiency – Applicants are encouraged to submit copies of test scores of standardized English examinations, taken no more than two years prior to application. Applicants must have a TOEFL iBT score of 42, an IELTS score of 4.0, or a Mahidol ELT score of 84. An applicant can request for exemption from submission of the English proficiency requirement if they satisfy all of the following conditions: Graduation from a degree with English as the sole medium of instruction, with a Certificate of English as Medium of Instruction from their university. Applicants can also opt to take and pass the Mahidol English Proficiency Examination before graduation.
- Two Letters of Recommendation – Two confidential letters of recommendation must be submitted by the referees directly to APMA. At least one letter must be from a professor or academic supervisor from your university who is familiar with your academic abilities. Only in exceptional cases will we consider recommendations that do not include at least one academic referee. In some cases, applicants who have been out of university for five years or more may submit references from your work supervisor/s who can attest to your suitability for the program.
- The recommendations must be written in English. Please ask your referee to use the prescribed recommendation form. (Download reference form)
- Letters of recommendation must be in the official letterhead of the institution or organization of the referee. Letters of recommendation with no official letterheads will not be accepted.
- The letters must be sent by email by the signatories themselves. They must use their official institutional e-mail address (<name>@<organization>.<domain>). Recommendation letters using non-institutional email addresses such as Gmail or Yahoo will not be accepted.
- It will be the applicant’s responsibility to ensure that referees submit their recommendation letters by the deadline of application. Late recommendations will not be accepted.
All applicants will receive a reply from APMA, confirming the receipt of documents submitted, possibly including requests for additional documents to comply with APMA or university guidelines.
All applications for the programme are carefully considered by the Steering Committee. Decisions for acceptance into the program are made based on all aspects of the application requirements: academic qualifications, impact of personal statement, and the strength of letters of reference. Research concept notes will be taken into account in order to ensure that students will receive sufficient support and guidance by the APMA Faculty.
